Janaki Mandir is a holy shrine located in the Mith

Janaki Mandir is a holy shrine located in the Mithila region of Nepal, Janakpur. It is an example of Hindu-Koiri Nepali architecture. It is a three-storied structure made entirely of stone and marble. All its 60 rooms are decorated with the flag of Nepal, colored glass, engravings, and paintings, with beautiful lattice windows and turrets.

According to legends and epics, King Janak ruled this area (called Videha) during the Ramayana period. His daughter Janaki (Sita), during her swyambar, had chosen Lord Rama as her husband, and become the queen of Ayodhya. Their marriage ceremony had occurred in the nearby temple which is also called vivaha mandap. The temple is popularly known as the Nau Lakha Mandir (meaning "nine lakhs"). The cost for the construction of the temple was about the same amount of money: rupees nine lakhs or nine hundred thousand, hence the name.

Thangru Tsedrup Lama Dance

Tsedrup which means Long Life Puja, is performed on November every year at Thangru Tashi Yangtse Monastery in Namobuddha.
On the occasion of this ceremony, there is a special lama dance which is known as Thangru Tsedrup Lama Dance or Cham.

In general, lama dancing, called cham or gar cham in Tibetan, is acting out the motions of the yidam deity and dharma protectors’ nine moods of dance. When it primarily involves gestures with the hands, it is called gar, and when it primarily involves steps with the feet, it is called cham. The combination of these two is called gar cham.

This lama dance helps spread the teachings in general and in specific, and in particular pacifies adversity and obstacles and increases life force, merit, and wisdom for those who participate in the puja and the lama dancing as well as for those who view it with faith and take the empowerment. In brief, this lama dance is said to spread the teachings of the Buddha, bring peace to the world, and in particular avert obstacles to life during one year for those who see it once in a year. It has extraordinary blessings, and it has become well-known in the world by the name of the Thangru Tsedrup.
